If you are in a car or truck accident, and the police were called at the time of your injury, there is more than likely an official accident report. Contact local law enforcement agency to request the report. It will serve as official documentation of the accident and should contain the insurance information of all parties.
2. Evidence from the sceneIf you are physically able to do so, gather as much visual evidence at the scene as possible. Take photographs and video with your cell phone of the area, your vehicle or other personal property, and injuries to yourself. Record witness statements on your phone or write them down, with contact information.
3. Evidence after the accidentIt’s a good idea to take photographs documenting your medical treatment. You might also make notes about your daily mental and physical condition.
